BULLARD TALENT SCHOOL RECEIVES TOP HONORS

Bullard Talent has a lot to celebrate. Recently, just over 100 middle school students in the school’s music program took a trip to San Diego to take part in the annual Heritage Music Festival and received tremendous accolades and brought home a number of top awards. The Advanced Band, Jazz Band,
Advanced Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Concert Choir and Showcase groups from Bullard took part in the festival. Overall, they won three gold and three silver awards and two students received individual honors for their solo performances: Bryce Keller, an eighth grader and Onyx Beytia, a seventh grader.

The Showcase group received the Adjudicator’s Award, which is only bestowed to those who receive a score of 95 or higher on a scale of 100. Bullard’s Concert Choir was extended an invitation to perform at the Festival of Gold at Carnegie Hall next school year, marking a major accomplishment as only gold rated choirs are invited to attend. Bullard Principal Sue Fuentes stated, “We’re very proud of our kids and their high level
of performance.”

Bullard Talent is a K-8 school with an emphasis on the visual and performing arts. Students are expected to participate in the visual and performing arts core classes, in addition to the FUSD baseline academic curriculum. The school is committed to the philosophy that the “Arts are ACADEMIC”.
